Interim Validations Manager

We are working in partnership with a local authority to recruit an experienced Validations Manager to lead the planning validation function within the Development Management service.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring all planning applications are accurately validated, legally compliant, and processed efficiently, supporting the wider planning service to meet statutory timescales and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the planning validation team
• Oversee registration and validation of planning applications
• Ensure compliance with planning legislation, DMPO, and local validation requirements
• Act as escalation point for complex validation matters
• Support performance improvement and statutory timescales

Requirements

• Strong local authority planning validation experience
• Sound knowledge of planning legislation and procedures
• Line management or supervision experience
• Able to step in quickly with minimal handover

Desirable

• Planning-related degree or equivalent experience
• RTPI membership
• Experience with Idox, Uniform, or Acolaid
