I’m working with an authority in the West Midlands who are currently on the lookout for a Senior Development Officer.
They can offer remote‑based working with occasional site and stakeholder meetings on a 6‑month contract, and they’ll be looking for someone who can start in the next few weeks.
On the days you do have to go in, the office is within 12‑minutes of the nearby train station and boasts a variety of amazing parks and shopping markets for interesting lunches.
Duties will include:
- Managing a portfolio of development and regeneration projects across the authority.
- Working closely with landowners, developers, surveyors and internal teams to unlock sites and progress schemes.
- Contributing to strategic place‑making, masterplanning and investment planning across the district.
- Ensuring all development activity aligns with corporate priorities, funding requirements and governance standards.
Desired Skills: (Not mandatory)
- Recent experience working within a local authority development, regeneration, estates or planning team.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of viability, appraisals or delivery models.
- Professional membership (RICS, RTPI or equivalent) beneficial but not essential.
Working Arrangements:
- Predominantly remote‑based working with limited on‑site attendance.
- Flexible hours and supportive team culture.
