Planning Policy Manager

My Client seeking an experienced and dynamic Planning Policy Manager to join their local authority team in the Midlands. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of their Local Plan.

The successful candidate will lead the preparation, review, and implementation of the Local Plan, ensuring it meets legal obligations and reflects the aspirations of our community. You will manage a small team of policy officers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the effective delivery of planning policy functions. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including councillors, community groups, and developers, to gather input and build consensus on planning policies.

To be successful in this role, you should have proven experience in planning policy development and implementation within a local authority or similar environment. Strong leadership skills are essential, as you will be managing and developing a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders. You should have a thorough understanding of the planning policy framework and relevant legislation in England, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid working environment.

They are offering a competitive hourly rate of £65-£75/h depending on experience, along with flexible working arrangements that include the opportunity to work remotely for most of the week (1/2 days in the office).
