We are recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to support a large, varied non‑domestic property estate. This role offers a mix of mechanical project delivery, statutory compliance, and contractor management, working across multiple sites and building types.
This opportunity would suit someone with strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services who enjoys taking ownership of projects from planning through to completion.
The Role
The Mechanical Technician will support the delivery of mechanical maintenance programmes, capital works, and statutory compliance activity. You will act as Contract Administrator on allocated projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical maintenance and improvement projects, acting as Contract Administrator from specification through to completion
- Ensure statutory compliance across mechanical services, with a particular focus on water hygiene / legionella, gas safety, and health & safety legislation
- Undertake site surveys, inspections, audits, and condition assessments to support asset planning and investment decisions
- Supervise contractors on site, monitoring quality, compliance, and health & safety performance
- Manage project budgets, tracking expenditure, variations, and programme milestones
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation using asset or property management systems
- Provide technical advice and support to stakeholders, including participation in an emergency cover rota when required
What We’re Looking For
- HNC/HND in a mechanical, building services, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven experience delivering mechanical projects and maintenance works across commercial or non‑domestic buildings
- Strong understanding of statutory mechanical compliance, particularly legionella / water hygiene
- Experience of contract administration and managing external contractors
- Sound knowledge of CDM regulations, asbestos awareness, and health & safety requirements
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
