Building Surveyor

  • Role: Building Surveyor
  • Rate: £300 per day
  • Contract Type: Interim, Full-Time
  • Location: London
  • Contract Length: 6 Months +
  • Working Arrangements: Office and site based, 5 days per week

Building Surveyor – Overview

  • This is an opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join a Property Services team within a social housing provider, focused on delivering high-quality repairs and damp management solutions.
  • The role is centred on improving homes, supporting tenants, and maintaining a strong customer-focused approach. You will play a key role in diagnosing issues, scoping works, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and compliantly.

Building Surveyor – Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake damp surveys across responsive repairs and void properties
  • Diagnose building defects, scope works, and prepare detailed specifications
  • Prepare drawings and support scheme budgets for strategic planning
  • Manage projects end to end, including full contract administration
  • Ensure all works comply with regulatory requirements and health and safety standards
  • Liaise with housing staff, officers, tenants, and stakeholders on damp and mould cases
  • Procure and manage specialist contractors and consultants when required
  • Produce reports, statistical returns, and performance data for management
  • Support asset data analysis to inform long-term investment strategies

Building Surveyor – Applicant Essentials

Essential

  • Construction-related background with a minimum HNC in property or construction
  • Experience working within a social housing provider or public sector environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience delivering damp and mould projects within residential housing
  • Knowledge of contract administration and project delivery frameworks
  • Experience supporting asset management and investment planning
