Interim Head of Planning

A Local Authority in Essex that I am working with is seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim Head of Planning to provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and expert guidance during a period of transition. This role will involve overseeing current changes in the planning service. You may oversee: Development Management, Policy and Enforcement. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Planning Service, ensuring effective delivery of development management, planning policy, and enforcement functions.
  • Oversee major applications, complex casework, and high‑profile development proposals.
  • Lead, motivate, and support multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Reshape teams and encourage recruitment where needed.
