Trading Standards Officer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for experienced Enforcement Officers to support a busy Trading Standards service on an interim basis. This is a great fit for professionals who can step straight into a varied caseload and contribute to protecting residents and maintaining high standards across the borough.

About the Role

You’ll be joining a proactive, supportive team delivering essential enforcement and regulatory work. The role covers a broad mix of responsibilities, including:

• Responding to reports of doorstep crime and tackling rogue trading activity
• Safeguarding vulnerable residents through targeted interventions
• Carrying out investigations, inspections, and enforcement actions across a range of Trading Standards functions

You’ll have the autonomy to manage your own workload while also working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for confident, capable officers who can make an immediate impact. You should have:

• A recognised Trading Standards qualification or substantial experience in regulatory or enforcement work
• Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and investigative procedures
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism
• The flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage competing demands

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.
