The Role
As an interim Licensing Officer, you’ll provide essential support to the team by managing a varied caseload and ensuring compliance with licensing legislation. You’ll offer clear advice and guidance to applicants, businesses, and partners, while helping maintain high standards of public protection.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Managing and progressing a broad portfolio of licensing applications from start to finish.
- Conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with licensing legislation, including occasional out‑of‑hours and weekend work.
- Handling complaints and service requests, carrying out investigations as required.
- Providing clear, informed advice to Councillors, residents, and local businesses on all licensing matters.
- Preparing professional reports and representing the service at Licensing Sub‑Committee hearings.
- Upholding Licensing Objectives across key areas such as the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, Special Treatments, Boot Fairs, Animal Licensing, Scrap Metal.
- Contributing to Safety Advisory Groups, including those for football and wider event safety.
