Interim Planning Policy Officer
A Local Authority in the East of England are seeking an experienced Planning Policy professional to join our team on an interim basis.
This Council, doesn't have a Local Plan in place currently, so you will play a key role in supporting the preparation, review, and delivery of planning policy documents, helping to guide sustainable development and placemaking.
This particular authority will allow you the opportunity to work from home the majority of the time, with some exceptions of office presence as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and review of Local Plans, Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs), and policy evidence
- Contribute to policy drafting, consultation processes, and stakeholder engagement
- Provide specialist planning policy advice to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Assist in responding to planning applications in relation to policy compliance
- Analyse data and research to inform policy development
- Support examination processes and liaise with inspectors where required
About You
- Proven experience in planning policy within a local authority or consultancy
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and relevant legislation
- Experience working on Local Plans or similar strategic policy documents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Relevant qualification in Town Planning (RTPI accredited desirable)
