We are supporting a Scottish local authority with the appointment of an experienced Senior Planning Policy Officer to assist with key stages of their development plan programme. This is an excellent opportunity for an established policy professional to contribute to a high‑profile planning project within the Scottish planning system.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a central role in progressing planning policy work, with a strong focus on Local Development Plan preparation. You will support the authority in drafting, reviewing and refining policy content, ensuring all work aligns with statutory requirements and current national planning guidance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and contributing to the preparation of planning policy documents
- Supporting the delivery of Local Development Plan workstreams
- Reviewing evidence, drafting policy text and preparing consultation material
- Providing clear, accurate planning policy advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Managing workloads to meet statutory and project deadlines
- Contributing to research, monitoring and analysis to support policy development
