Help protect Noise & Pollution in Sussex!
A council based in Sussex are looking for an Environmental Protection Officer to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with vast pollution experience to assist across the district.
What's it in for you?
- £40-£45 per hour
- Up to 30 hours per week
- Initial 6 month contract (possible extension)
- Hybrid working arrangements - 2/3 days on district/ in office
What is the role/required?
- Practical experience in environmental health, ideally within a local authority setting
- Investigate complaints related to noise, smoke, odour, light, and other statutory nuisances affecting public health or quality of life.
- Conduct site inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial premises to identify sources of nuisance or pollution.
- Enforce legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and other relevant statutory frameworks.
- Support planning and licensing teams by reviewing applications and advising on environmental health implications when needed.
- When necessary Serve legal notices, prepare case files, and pursue enforcement actions including prosecutions
