Environmental Health Officer - Private Sector Housing

One of our Essex-based local authority clients is looking for a Senior Private Sector Housing Officer / EHO to join their tight-knitted Housing Standard team to help them tackle their HMO backlog and housing complaints.

Position: Senior Private Sector Housing Officer / Environmental Health Officer
Contract Duration: 6 - 9 months (with potential for extension)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (remote and on-site)
Employment Type: Full-time 

Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections and assessments of private sector housing properties to ensure compliance with HHSRS.
• Provide advice and guidance to landlords, tenants, and property owners regarding housing regulations and requirements.
• Investigate and address complaints and take appropriate enforcement action.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role within a local authority.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of HHSRS and the Housing Act 2004.
• Experience with Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) is essential.
• Strong experience in housing enforcment
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload efficiently.

Start Date: Dec 25 - Jan 26
Rates: £45 - £50 per hour (umbrella /outside IR35)
