Licensing Enforcement Officer

I’m supporting a Local Authority team who are looking for a Licensing Enforcement Officer with solid experience in taxi licensing. This role sits in a small, established team and focuses on a mix of application work and field-based inspections, so it suits someone confident balancing desk-based processing with practical on-the-ground checks.

What you’ll be doing:

• Handling taxi and private hire licensing applications, renewals, and compliance queries
• Carrying out scheduled and reactive taxi inspections (vehicle checks, driver compliance, conditions monitoring)
• Preparing clear reports, statements, and recommendations
• Engaging directly with drivers, operators, and internal teams to resolve issues
• Supporting occasional investigations where required

What you’ll need:

• Proven experience in taxi licensing enforcement within a council environment
• Strong understanding of relevant taxi legislation, policies, and enforcement powers
• Confidence dealing with the public and representing the service professionally
• Ability to work independently and manage your own caseload
• Availability to work on a hybrid basis
