A progressive Midlands local authority is recruiting dedicated EHOs to lead a vital housing safety programme. You’ll focus on high-rise and medium-rise blocks, with special emphasis on HMOs and fire safety compliance under the latest regulations.
About the Role
- Deliver inspections and enforcement activities under:
- Building Safety Act 2022
- Fire Safety Act 2021 & Fire Safety Regulations 2022
- Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Housing Act 2004 (2018 Addendum)
- Lead fire risk assessments across residential blocks and HMOs, including PAS 9980 external wall reviews
- Collaborate with Fire & Rescue Services, Building Control, landlords, managing agents and other stakeholders
- Prepare, review, and update Building Safety Cases in line with legislative requirements
- Investigate non-compliance, support enforcement notices, and assist prosecution teams
- Produce clear, detailed reports, schedules of defects, and maintain accurate case records
About You
We’re seeking EHOs who bring:
- A recognized Environmental Health qualification
- Proven fire safety experience in residential settings (HRRB and HMOs)
- ABBE Level 4 (or equivalent) Fire Risk Assessor certification
- Hands-on experience with Type 1 Fire Risk Assessments in residential or mixed-use premises
- Familiarity with PAS 9980 methodology for external wall systems
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Vision Plan 2 (or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills for multi-agency liaison and stakeholder engagement
