A council based in the West Midlands are looking for a Childcare Solicitor to assist with their child protection matters and care proceedings.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage a caseload of public law childcare matters, including care and supervision orders.
- Provide legal advice to social services and other departments on child protection issues.
- Draft and review legal documents, including court applications and statements.
- Represent the council in Family Court proceedings, including advocacy where appropriate.
- Liaise with counsel, external agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Public Law Outline (PLO).
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience handling childcare cases within the public sector is essential.
- Local authority experience is highly advantageous.
