Stock Condition Surveyor – Basics
- Role: Stock Condition Surveyor (Domestic Housing)
- Rate: £300+ per day (inclusive) – overtime/weekends allowed.
- Location: Suffolk / East Anglia (field‑based)
- Contract Length: Initial 12 weeks / 3 months (extension possible)
- Working Arrangements: Field‑based role completing on‑site domestic stock condition surveys. Some evening or Saturday working available to support resident access.
Stock Condition Surveyor – Overview
- A social housing provider is progressing the mop‑up phase of its domestic stock condition survey programme in preparation for an anticipated regulatory inspection.
- The housing portfolio comprises approximately 6,500 homes, with around 1,200 properties remaining to be surveyed. Two experienced Interim Stock Condition Surveyors are required to support the completion of high‑quality, Decent Homes–style inspections across occupied properties.
- This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role suited to surveyors with proven experience in social housing environments, and who are comfortable identifying HHSRS issues in occupied homes.
Stock Condition Surveyor – Key Responsibilities
- Complete domestic stock condition surveys across a council housing portfolio.
- Assess properties in line with Decent Homes standards (including kitchens, bathrooms, roofs, bedrooms, and overall condition).
- Identify and record HHSRS issues and risks based on experience.
- Complete approximately 4–5 surveys per day, with quality prioritised over volume.
- Attend pre‑booked resident appointments arranged by the client.
- Undertake door‑knocking / cold calling where diary gaps arise to maximise access.
- Record survey findings initially using paper‑based forms (digital tablets may become available but are not guaranteed).
- Support potential follow‑on work, including re‑surveys where required.
Stock Condition Surveyor – Applicant Essentials
Essential
- Proven experience completing domestic stock condition surveys.
- Strong understanding of Decent Homes assessments.
- Experience identifying and recording HHSRS risks in occupied homes.
- Ability to work at pace while maintaining survey quality.
- Comfortable undertaking door‑knocking to gain access.
- Willingness to complete surveys on paper initially.
Desirable
- Background in local authority or social housing environments.
- Availability for overtime and/or Saturday working.
- Experience supporting regulatory readiness or inspection preparation.
