Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Compliance Officer – Overview
A forward‑thinking social housing provider is seeking an experienced and technically minded Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Compliance Officer to support the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of building services across its housing portfolio.
Working closely with the senior M&E leadership team, you will play a key role in ensuring critical mechanical and electrical assets remain compliant, well‑maintained and safe for residents. The role offers a broad and engaging remit, combining technical oversight, compliance reporting, contractor management and collaboration across housing and property teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional who enjoys balancing technical detail with service delivery and stakeholder engagement.
Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Compliance Officer – Key Responsibilities
- Deputise for the Mechanical & Electrical Manager during periods of absence.
- Attend management and operational meetings where required.
- Review, edit and finalise weekly and monthly M&E compliance reports.
- Review contractor reports, certification and remedial recommendations for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide technical advice on electrical safety, installations, design and improvement works.
- Support procurement, contract management, evaluation and quality assurance of M&E compliance contracts.
- Carry out audits of compliance data, certification and statutory records.
- Assist with the development and continuous improvement of electrical compliance policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and contractors to ensure repairs, upgrades and remedial works are delivered effectively.
Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Compliance Officer – Applicant Essentials
Essential
- Strong understanding of electrical services, building services systems or compliance functions.
- Relevant technical qualification (Electrical, HNC/HND, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent).
- Confidence undertaking surveys, inspections and interpreting technical standards.
- Excellent communication, reporting and organisational skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with residents, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Clear commitment to safety, quality and resident-focused service delivery.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a social housing provider.
- Exposure to wider compliance areas such as fire safety systems or lifts.
- Experience supporting compliance data, reporting or asset registers.
- Familiarity with asset management or compliance management systems.
