Pre-Construction Project Officer – Overview
- An exciting opportunity has arisen with a social housing provider that is delivering an ambitious housing capital investment programme valued at approximately £150m over the next two years.
- Working within the Procurement Team, the Pre-Construction Project Officer will provide vital administrative, coordination and project support across a portfolio of planned works programmes involving occupied residential properties, including low-rise and high-rise buildings.
- This role offers the opportunity to support the development, planning and procurement of major refurbishment and component replacement projects while working alongside internal stakeholders, consultants and contractors to ensure projects are delivered through compliant and robust procurement processes.
Pre-Construction Project Officer – Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and coordination support across multiple pre-construction projects and workstreams.
- Maintain project systems, trackers and reporting tools to monitor programme activity and progress.
- Coordinate pre-construction planning, commissioning and contracting activities.
- Liaise with internal teams, consultants, solicitors and suppliers to support project development.
- Support the preparation and development of service documentation, works packages and tender briefs.
- Maintain procurement documentation and project records to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Support the successful handover of developed project briefs and compliant contracts to delivery teams.
- Prepare correspondence, meeting information, progress updates and project documentation.
- Maintain project files, risk registers, compliance records and programme information.
- Support compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Procurement Act 2023.
- Assist in maintaining the Golden Thread of information across projects.
- Support the delivery of transparent, fair and compliant procurement exercises.
Pre-Construction Project Officer – Applicant Essentials
Essential
- Experience in an administrative, project coordination or support role within a construction, housing, procurement, property or commercial environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Excel and project tracking systems.
- Ability to manage records, documentation and compliance information effectively.
- Experience supporting projects across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
- Proactive and organised approach to workload management.
Desirable
- Understanding of public sector procurement and contracting processes.
- Experience working within a social housing provider or public sector environment.
- Knowledge of planned works, capital projects or construction programmes.
- Awareness of procurement legislation and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of building safety and construction regulations.
