I am working with a council in the Southwest who are seeking an experienced Chief Accountant.
This is an established team who have two current interims looking after work around IFRS16/PFI and day to day year end responsibilities.
What they are looking for is someone to oversee and tie it all up, someone with all encompassing technical expertise in local government finance. This is an established team who have two current interims looking after work around IFRS16/PFI and day to day year end responsibilities.
Ideally someone who has led on the Closure of Accounts with a number of different councils of differing size and stature.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Financial Accounting Team, providing strategic direction and operational oversight.
- Ensure timely and accurate production of statutory accounts in accordance with CIPFA and IFRS standards.
- Manage the Medium-Term Financial Strategy, supporting budget setting and monitoring processes.
- Oversee capital accounting, asset management, and treasury functions.
- Provide expert financial advice to senior officers and elected members.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, audit requirements, and internal controls.
