The Role
A Local Authority is seeking an experienced and EHORB Registered Environmental Health Officer to join their Port Health Service on an initial 6-month contract.
This role has arisen to support increased demand and assist in clearing a backlog of Port Health work, offering a great opportunity to gain experience in a specialist area of Environmental Health.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out inspections of imported food consignments (non-EU) entering the port
- Undertaking ship sanitation and inspection duties
- Supporting infectious disease investigations
- Delivering a range of statutory Port Health and Public Health functions
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Environmental Health legislation and enforcement procedures
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- EHORB Registration (essential)
- A recognised Environmental Health qualification
- Experience working within a local authority Environmental Health setting
- Strong knowledge of Environmental Health legislation and enforcement
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to manage workload in a fast-paced operational environment
Working Pattern
This is a shift-based role:
- Morning, afternoons & evenings:
- 1 in 5 Saturdays required
