Private Sector Housing Manager

A Kent based Local Authority is currently looking to appoint an experienced Interim Private Sector Housing Manager to support the service through a busy operational period and ongoing legislative changes within the sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional who can come in and lead an established Private Sector Housing team from day one.

The successful candidate will need strong operational management experience within a Local Authority setting and a solid understanding of current housing legislation and enforcement procedures.

The Role

You will be responsible for overseeing an established Private Sector Housing service, managing Senior Officers and supporting the operational delivery of the team.

The role will include involvement across:

• Private Sector Housing enforcement
• HMO Licensing
• Renters Rights Act implementation
• Improvement Notices & Civil Penalties
• Caravan/Mobile Home Sites
• Housing standards & compliance
• Operational team management
• Service delivery & policy oversight

About You

The council are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working as a Private Sector Housing Manager
• Has managed teams within a Local Authority environment
• Can hit the ground running with minimal supervision
• Has strong knowledge of housing enforcement processes
• Is confident leading operational services
• Has experience managing Senior Officers/Team Leaders

This role would not suit someone stepping into management for the first time.

Contract Details

• Initial 10–12 week contract
• Potential for extension
• Full-time position
• Hybrid working available
• 3 days office / 2 days home working
• ASAP start preferred
