We are seeking a capable and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day management, maintenance and safety of our independent primary school estate. This is a hands‑on and highly important role, ensuring a safe, well‑maintained and welcoming environment that supports excellent teaching, learning and pupil wellbeing. Reporting to senior leadership, the Facilities Manager will take responsibility for facilities operations, maintenance activities, health & safety compliance and contractor coordination across the school site, working closely with staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Estates & Maintenance Management
- Oversee the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of the school’s buildings, grounds and facilities
- Ensure the school site is safe, clean, well‑presented and suitable for a primary school environment
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance to minimise disruption to school activities
- Support refurbishment, improvement and minor capital projects as required
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and statutory requirements relevant to schools
- Carry out and monitor risk assessments, inspections and routine checks
- Support compliance in key areas including fire safety, asbestos, legionella and site security
Contractors & Site Coordination
- Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring work is carried out safely, on time and to a high standard
- Liaise with staff to coordinate works around the school timetable
- Maintain positive relationships with staff, pupils, parents and visitors
