Fire Safety Manager

  • You will be working as an Interim Fire Safety Manager for a RP in Essex.
  • £450–£500 per day (Inside IR35).
  • 6–9 Month Contract.
  • Interim, Full-time.
  • On-site 1–2 days per week.

Fire Safety Manager Responsibilities

  • Manage 2 High Rise Buildings (HRB’s), and any other properties that may fall into scope accordance with legislation, and the building safety cases, and to manage all associated information, providing prescribed information to the Regulators as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory duties as set out in the Building Safety Bill and Fire Safety Bill, and all compliance obligations by managing all properties in accordance with their Safety Case Report and ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Building Assurance Certificate.
  • Ensure compliance with all directions given and statutory notices issued by the Building Safety Regulator, including mandatory reporting, acting as the first point of contact with residents for complaints handling and information provision on the role of residents in fire and building safety.
  • Liaising and co-operating with other occupiers and owners of properties to secure an integrated approach to managing building and fire safety risks.
  • Any non-compliance is dealt with and/or escalated appropriately.
  • Ensure that all relevant aspects of current and future Building and Fire Regulations are adhered to in all circumstances taking into full consideration recommendations in the revised Building Regulatory regime and any associated H&S requirements.
  • Act as the organisational expert on all new and emerging legislation relating to building and fire safety and ensure that the correct systems, services and documentation are in place and are accurate to meet obligations.
  • Be responsible for the development of Building Safety Cases, ensuring that these are completed within set timescales, monitoring the completion of any resulting actions; operating a regime whereby interdependencies are covered, and all risks and mitigations are proactively identified throughout the lifecycle of the property.
  • Act as the duty holder in relation to statutory obligations in all assigned areas of responsibility and manage any external consultants engaged to provide competent person roles.
  • To draft policies and processes to ensure they are kept up to date with secondary legislation and emerging best practice and work with the Assistant Director of Property Compliance to ensure robust roll out and regular reviews and spot checks.
  • Ensure fire risk structure assessments and fire risk assessments are undertaken and reviewed regularly will all recommendations undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to develop and own the relevant sections of a Resident Engagement Strategy which provides building and fire safety information and an internal escalation route, reflecting any resident concerns, paying mind to leaseholder issues, and act on those concerns in a timely manner for each building relevant to legislation.

Fire Safety Manager Applicant Essentials

  • NEBOSH Fire Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Building related qualification.
  • Membership of IFE, IFSM, RICS or CIOB.
