Building Surveyor
- You will be working as an Interim Building Surveyor for a RP in London.
- You will be facilitating the delivery of excellent repairs, voids and planned works. Ensure that customer focus is your focus and ensure that value for money is achieved and key performance indicator targets are attained.
- £36 – £40 per hour (Inside IR35, CIS).
- 3 Month Contract with the option to extend if everyone is happy.
- Interim, Full-time.
Building Surveyor Responsibilities
- Lead as part of the senior leadership team, holding overall responsibility for the daily management of the strategic architectural and surveying team and the estates department investment from both a strategic and hands-on perspective. Advise the board and cabinet on the delivery of multiple projects, from planned and reactive maintenance through to wider estate management functions, providing a comprehensive corporate landlord service.
- Implement business planning processes and performance management, ensuring appropriate and cost-effective service delivery.
- Ensure team performance in delivering a first-class, customer-focused service.
- Oversee the project management function for all construction and maintenance projects. Manage the team in preparing tenders, contracts, and related documentation.
- Manage the capital investment programme and associated budgetary requirements.
- Establish and implement commercial strategies and improvement programmes for the authority’s commercial property and other let portfolios.
- Lead strategic asset planning and corporate asset management as required.
- Procure and monitor contracts, supporting procurement and legal teams as necessary, and ensure KPIs and social value commitments are met.
- Address decarbonisation of the public estate, advising the Head of FM as required.
- Monitor and address health, safety, and welfare of staff and service users in relation to estates management.
- Build partnerships and relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and key organisations.
Building Surveyor Applicant Essentials
- Strong understanding of building construction, defects, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of damp types (rising, penetrating, condensation) and effective remediation methods.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations, CDM requirements, and housing standards.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislative compliance in social housing contexts.
- Competence in report writing, data analysis, and use of digital tools for surveys (e.g., tablets, asset management systems).
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Surveying, Construction, or related discipline.
- Damp and mould-specific training or certification (e.g., Federation of Damp accredited courses) is highly desirable.
- Experience in social housing or local authority environments.
