From serving in the Territorial Army and The Police to being a passionate advocate for LGBT rights, Amanda McKay embodies what it means to be a public servant.

In celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month, our Divisional Manager Robert Murray sat down with Amanda to discuss her journey as a trans woman, and to learn more about the wonderful work being done by Building Equality, the group striving for excellence in inclusion in the world of Property & Construction.

Amanda is a strategic thinker and leader, with over 35 years of experience within the property, engineering & construction sectors. She is incredibly passionate about equality, diversity, and inclusion within the workplace, not only working tirelessly to educate her current employer Balfour Beatty on inclusivity, but she is also part of various Trans and LGBTQ+ organisations, acting as a mentor to others within the community. She was featured in the Financial Times’ OUTstanding Top 100 LGBT + Executives, amongst countless other accolades earned throughout her career.
