Head of Client Accounts

A leading property management and investment firm is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Head of Client Accounts to oversee all aspects of client finance operations. This is a key role within their stable and professional real estate business, managing a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties across the UK.

About the Role:

As Head of Client Accounts, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end client accounting function, ensuring funds are handled with accuracy, transparency, and full compliance with regulatory standards. You will lead a small team of 3, serve as the primary point of contact for financial queries related to landlords, tenants, and service charge accounts and prepare and present monthly reports to relevant stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all client money handling, including rent collection, deposits, and service charges
• Ensure full compliance with client accounting rules (including ARLA, RICS, and Client Money Protection requirements)
• Prepare monthly and quarterly client statements and reports
• Reconcile client accounts and bank statements regularly
• Handle client queries and resolve account discrepancies efficiently
• Work closely with property management and lettings teams to ensure seamless financial service delivery
• Manage year-end service charge accounts, including liaison with external accountants
• Lead, support, and develop a team of client accountants and assistants
• Continuously review and improve internal systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy

About You:

• Strong experience in client accounting within a property or block management setting
• In-depth knowledge of client money regulations and property sector compliance standards
• Proven team leadership skills with experience managing client account functions
• Highly numerate, analytical, and detail-oriented
• Excellent communication skills and a client-focused mindset
• Familiar with industry software such as Qube, MRI, or similar platforms

• ARLA or other relevant industry qualifications are advantageous
