A new decade for Oyster

After starting from a two-man office in Soho, London in 2004, Oyster have moved offices 3 times; Wardour Street, Glasshouse Street, and finally to Haymarket in October 2014. Each move was to a larger office due to the growth of the business.

Currently, Haymarket is a 4,500 Sqft office. We’ve even had to remodel this place 3 times in the last 3 years to accommodate the increasing staff numbers – hopefully, it will manage to contain us up until the next move in late 2020/2021.

Originally, our core business model was always to hire trainees, develop them and bring them through the ranks of the company. 93% of our team started their careers in recruitment at Oyster.

It has meant a harder road has been traveled, compared to other agencies, as our management team has needed to grow from within. We’ve had to wait patiently for the right people at the right time to put their hand up and coach them into building their teams.

We’ve always wanted to keep our core ethos and promote and build the business around those within. Our Management, Team Leaders, and Senior staff (including myself) have nearly all come through this career journey.

‘Adapt or die’… A rule that we govern ourselves by in this office. This of course means we are constantly changing and moving with the market, enabling the maximum potential for our team and the business.

We now have a number of recruiters who have joined us from other agencies bringing with them anything from 6 months up to 7 years’ experience and what a success story they have been. Now, with what we have planned for the 20’s, there will be more opportunities for those in a similar situation, loving what they do………..but not who they do it for.

If we could, we could hire 29 additional recruiters, that’s just working across current divisions & geographies, not considering additional sectors we want to cover like Architecture, Procurement, M&E, Engineering, and Senior Appointments across the UK. In these industries, we would absolutely consider those with experience. Expanding offices across the UK and abroad is a goal too in the medium to long term

The plan for this decade is to grow………and grow. This means we can comfortably offer a platform of personal growth and a professional career route, for years to come, in an environment that’s way, way above and ahead of, other recruitment companies.

Whether you’re wanting to get into recruitment or whether you’re in it but know you deserve better, Oyster will help you be the best you can be.

If you’re a candidate or client we currently deal with or would like to be, Oyster will provide you with the first-class service, advice, and help we’ve become famous for.

Our success is wholly governed by the people within Oyster. We have no prejudice – You can be from any walk of life. If you are up to the challenge, can meet the high standards and core criteria we set, and are an ambitious individual; we will meet you.

Oyster specialises in nurturing good people and making them into the best possible versions of themselves. It’s taken a while to get where we are now, but the 2020’s will be extraordinary……….this is all because of our team!
