A leading provider of purpose-built student accommodation, with operations spanning major UK cities, is seeking a Finance Director to champion the financial strategy and performance of the business.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the financial management of a portfolio exceeding 10,000 beds across key university locations.
Your strategic insight will be instrumental in driving sustainable growth, enhancing asset value, and informing investment decisions across a diverse and dynamic portfolio.
You’ll lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency and unlock long-term value, ensuring the business remains agile and financially resilient. With a commitment to building vibrant, inclusive communities, this ethos is reflected in the collaborative and empowering culture at head office.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will take ownership of financial governance, shape the company’s financial direction, and play a critical role in driving performance across all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all financial operations, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and planning, to deliver accurate and timely insights that inform strategic decision-making.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial reporting frameworks, and management information systems to safeguard assets and support business integrity.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and regular performance reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
- Manage banking relationships and ensure optimal cash flow to meet the Group’s operational and strategic needs.
- Design and implement initiatives to enhance finance systems and processes, unlocking value and improving efficiency across the business.
- Drive the financial planning cycle, including budgeting and forecasting, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
- Provide commercial analysis and strategic insight to support investment decisions and business growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and investors.
- Champion operational efficiency and contribute to the success of investment programmes and capital deployment.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
About You
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with significant post-qualification experience
- Proven track record in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within real estate, hospitality, or student accommodation
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with financial systems and data-driven decision-making
- Passionate about building inclusive, high-performing teams
