I am working with a Local Authority to recruit an experienced Locum Employment Lawyer. This is an exciting opportunity to support the legal team in handling a range of employment law issues and contribute to key HR-related legal matters within the public sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on a variety of employment law matters, including employee relations, discrimination, and contractual issues.
- Handle claims relating to unfair dismissal, grievance procedures, and disciplinary matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, policies, and settlement agreements.
- Represent the council in employment tribunals and other dispute resolution processes.
- Provide guidance on HR-related issues such as redundancy, restructuring, and employee rights.
- Collaborate with HR and management teams to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with experience in employment law.
- In-depth knowledge of employment legislation, case law, and tribunal procedures.
- Experience working with local authorities or public sector clients is desirable.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
