Purpose of the Role: The Compliance Coordinator supports the organisation in meeting its statutory obligations relating to property safety, with a particular focus on asbestos management. The postholder ensures that compliance data, documentation, and contractor activity are accurate, up to date, and aligned with regulatory requirements. They play a key role in coordinating inspections, maintaining compliance records, and supporting safe, legally compliant service delivery across housing stock or council‑managed buildings.
Key Responsibilities
Asbestos Compliance
- Coordinate asbestos surveys, reinspection, and removal works in line with legislation and internal policies.
- Maintain the asbestos register and ensure all data is accurate, accessible, and regularly updated.
- Liaise with licensed asbestos contractors, surveyors, and internal teams to schedule works.
- Ensure asbestos reports, certificates, and risk assessments are uploaded and stored correctly.
- Support the monitoring of contractor performance and compliance with Control of Asbestos Regulations.
Property Safety & Statutory Compliance
- Assist with compliance across key safety areas such as gas, electrical, fire safety, water hygiene, lifts, and other statutory checks.
- Track compliance performance and highlight overdue actions or risks.
- Support the coordination of cyclical inspections and remedial works.
- Ensure documentation (certificates, reports, risk assessments) is collected, validated, and stored.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience working within housing or local councils, ideally in property compliance, asset management, or health & safety.
- Knowledge of asbestos compliance requirements and the Control of Asbestos Regulations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Confident using compliance systems, asset databases, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with contractors, surveyors, and internal teams.
