Working as a Temporary Accommodation Officer
Temporary Accommodation Officers are responsible for the acquisition, maintenance and allocation of temporary accommodation to priority homelessness cases. TA Officers also focus on the tenancy sustainment of the people in temporary accommodation. They make sure the needs of tenants are met and they are adhering to the rules and procedures of the accommodation.
The role of a Temporary Accommodation Officer includes:
- Supporting temporary accommodation residents
- Selection and letting of all types of temporary accommodation
- Paperwork management
- Maintaining Health and Safety Standards
- Making sure repairs are being carried out
- Voids management
- Liaison with landlords and other parties
- Assisting with Housing Benefits forms
Qualifications & Experience
Temporary Accommodation Officers would require past experience dealing with cases of complex needs (e.g. Hostel Worker). Past experience working in Housing, preferably tenancy sustainment. These type of roles are a developing specialism requiring a wide range of transferable skills and a keen mind for solving people’s problems.
Salary
Permanent contract: £22,000 – £26,000
Contractors: £18 – £22 per hour
