That was the question at this morning's Future of Planning Business Breakfast, hosted by Oyster's planning team, Shen Thiruchelvam, Connie Birkett and Ramla Warfa

Bringing together senior leaders from planning, development and housing across local authorities and the public sector, the discussion went far beyond planning reform.

Some of the biggest themes included: Building control emerging as a major delivery challenge Attracting the next generation into planning careers Breaking down silos between planning, regeneration and housing teams Using AI to improve efficiency without losing professional judgement Creating a more proactive, delivery-focused planning culture

One thing was clear: delivering homes isn't just about policy. It's about people, leadership, collaboration and having the confidence to find solutions. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed so openly to the discussion.
