We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Officer specializing in health and safety administration with a focus on Fire, Legionella, Asbestos, Gas, Electricity, and Lift (F.L.A.G.E.L.) compliance. In this critical administrative role, you will support the compliance team by managing documentation, coordinating compliance activities, and ensuring all health and safety regulations and standards are met. Your expertise will help maintain a safe and compliant environment across our council’s properties and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Health and Safety Compliance Administration:
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations related to F.L.A.G.E.L., including fire safety, legionella control, asbestos management, gas safety, electrical safety, and lift operations.
    • Manage and maintain all documentation related to F.L.A.G.E.L. compliance, including inspection reports, certificates, risk assessments, and incident records.
    • Develop and update policies and procedures to manage and mitigate health and safety risks associated with F.L.A.G.E.L.
  2. Coordination and Scheduling:
    • Coordinate and schedule F.L.A.G.E.L.-related inspections, maintenance activities, and compliance checks with internal teams and external contractors.
    • Track the status of all compliance activities and ensure timely completion of required actions.
    • Maintain an up-to-date compliance calendar, ensuring all deadlines and regulatory requirements are met.
  3. Training and Awareness:
    • Assist in developing and organizing training programs and workshops for staff and contractors on F.L.A.G.E.L. compliance and best practices.
    • Promote a culture of health and safety awareness across the council by disseminating relevant information and updates.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of all F.L.A.G.E.L.-related activities, ensuring documentation is readily available for audits and inspections.
    • Prepare regular reports for senior management and relevant stakeholders on compliance status, key risks, and improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure all documentation meets legal and regulatory requirements and is up-to-date.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other departments, including Property Management, Maintenance, and Housing, to support the effective management of F.L.A.G.E.L. compliance.
    • Liaise with external contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with council policies and health and safety regulations.
    • Stay updated with changes in health and safety legislation and best practices, ensuring the council’s policies and procedures reflect the latest standards.
