3 months contract | July start | Hybrid working arrangements

Position: Private Sector Housing Officer / Environmental Health Officer
Contract Duration: 3 months (with potential for extension)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (remote and on-site)
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time (22 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and assessments of private sector housing properties to ensure compliance with health, safety, and housing standards.
  • Provide advice and guidance to landlords, tenants, and property owners regarding housing regulations and requirements.
  • Investigate and address complaints related to housing conditions and take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.
  • Carry out risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards in residential properties.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including local authorities and other agencies, to ensure effective housing management and enforcement.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role within a local authority.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and the Housing Act 2004.
  • Experience with Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Start Date: July 2023
Rates: £38 - £42 per hour (umbrella)
