A client of mine is looking for a Land Drainage Officer to join their team in the South-East on an initial 3-month contract working on supporting the Environment Team. The position is likely to last up to 12 months and can offer part-time options.

Your position will be assisting with the delivery Council services across the environmental protection and drainage remit including assessing, inspecting and approving land drainage works, consents and outfalls.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Be a member of the Environmental Protection and Drainage Team and be responsible for
    contributing to the Councils enforcement of local Land Drainage Bye-laws and other land
    drainage consents in support of planning applications.
  • Ensure our customer service and delivery is excellent and continually improves with a range
    of stakeholders.
  • Planning inspections and approving land drainage works, consents and outfalls.
  • To be confident and responsible to make routine decisions regarding site visits, inspections
    and public enquiries about complaints and enquiries about consents and blocked ditches.
  • To have a varied knowledge of drainage systems in a rural and urban setting including
    knowledge of environmental legislation, land drainage and outfall systems and outfall
    attenuation systems.
  • To serve legal notices for information and pursue enforcement for non-compliance with ByeLaws.

If you have prior experience working on Drainage and/or Flood Risk, this job would be worth expressing interest.
