Active Travel Choices Manager

We are working with a local authority situated in the North West of England in their search for an Active Travel Manager with the skillset to be able to manage the Travel Choices Team responsible for School Travel Advisors and Cycling Promotions - these include workplace, residential, and school travel planning.

A key element of this role is to encourage other local businesses, schools, and other organizations to develop Travel Plans, to market and promote the use of sustainable transport and reduce car dependence.

• You'd be at hand for the delivery and development of the council's policies with Travel Choices among the Local Transport Plan and to negotiate with wider teams in the council and wider partners.
• To control the budget and manage the finance of the team, including revenue budgets associated with the Travel Choices theme in the Local Transport Plan capital Programme
• Assist the Transport Planning and Development Control Manager in the delivery of the team's functions
• To lead in the development and delivery of policies within the Local Transport Plan, specifically acting as lead author on the Travel Choices chapter and providing senior support on the Active Travel and Cleaner Fuels chapter.

Contract length would run 6+ months...

• IR35 status is yet to be confirmed
• WFH hybridity - ideally required 1x a week due the level of position
