Our Housing Options team split off from the Housing Management team in 2016 to form a specialist division that provides Housing Options & Homelessness staff to councils across the country. We split so that we could offer a greater degree of expertise to our clients in what is a specialist field. One of the roles we recruit the most for is the Housing Options Officer.
Your day as a Housing Options Officer
As a Housing Options Officer, you will assess Homeless applications. These applications include evidence as to why the individual is homeless or is about to become homeless. After weighing up the evidence, after a thorough investigation, you make a decision as to whether they are entitled to accommodation. You can call them the detectives of the housing world.
If you have done the following, you will know the role and we will be in a position to get you your next position:
- Give Housing Advice
- Write Personal Housing Plans
- Make a section 184 decision
- Triage on the front-line
You will often be asked for a DBS as are will be working with some of the most vulnerable in society. But don’t worry if you don’t, we can help you get one.
Due to the current climate councils are being extremely flexible with hours you work, working from home and doing virtual interviews. So more time to spend with family whilst making a big difference to the council.
