Picture an Estate with sprawling lush greens and a listed building, amongst the 26 others you’ll be looking after.
You’re wandering across 72 acres to meet with your maintenance team and oversee the new project that’s taking place,
You walk back across the Estate and bump into the Head of Grounds, they update you on all there works… Now you’re back within the main cluster of buildings, checking in with your Facilities Manager and making sure everything on the soft services side is ticking along.
Sounds like a great role? Then read on.
Are you a Head of Estates that has the ability to wear different hats?
Maybe you’ve come off the tools, or have a background in Surveying?
You definitely have lots of experience across multiple projects, and it would be ideal you’ve managed a large team before. Although you’ll only have 3 direct reports in this role, there will be a team of 20 underneath them and all the external contractors will fall within that too.
You will ideally be comfortable managing tricky stakeholders – theres a 5-10 year Estates strategy and it’s your job to make that a reality – working closely underneath the bursar, and reporting to the board of governors about your works and processes – can you manage both up and down?
Tricky stakeholder management is a key feature of the role, as this job marries many different elements into one – can you project manage? do you have strong Estates/Facilities experience? and are you committed to bringing a team forward to follow best practice and help the estate thrive?
