EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: Jemimah Haughton
Today we chat with employee of the month, Jemimah, about her journey in recruitment. Joining Oyster as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant, Jemimah was promoted to a Recruitment Consultant within three months, something we rarely see so early on.
How long have you worked at Oyster?
I have been at Oyster under a year, started in November of 2017.
What were you doing prior to Oyster?
I had just graduated with a Law Degree.
How were you introduced to Oyster and what was the interview process like?
I was introduced to Oyster via a Rec2Rec. The interview was an interesting process, I met with various people from different levels of seniority within Oyster and I guess they were all figuring out whether I’d be a good fit for the Oyster culture. I had two interview stages, I was sold from the first stage entirely because of the people who I met, they were all so real and down to earth. Before the second stage interview, I had to complete a psychometric test, I found out a lot about myself here, this was probably the most intense aspect of the interview process.
After uni I got various calls from recruiters, one of them told me that I would suit his job because of my way with people. Then I started interviewing and the rest is history!
What do you like the most about recruitment so far?
I love interacting with people and building relationships with people from various walks of life. Also, the fact that by making one phone call you can build a relationship with someone and eventually place them in a job that could shape their career.
What do you like the most about Oyster?
The people within Oyster are definitely what I like most. We work hard but we also get recognised for each and every achievement, which is one of the most attractive qualities within a company.
What desk are you on?
General Practice – Property & Asset management.
What advice would you give to future trainee recruitment consultants?
The job is not easy but it is all about putting in the graft as you will reap multiple rewards. This is the most supportive company ever, every single person will try to help you in any way they can should you ask for it, even the silly questions that I still ask to this day.
